--- How was NYLON's fashion shoot?

RIO: Actually, before even joining "Nizi Project" I read NYLON, so when I found out that we would be appearing on it, I was really happy. I think not only the unique vibe of NYLON is nice, but also the fashion clothes that bring out individually. So this time I was really excited to enter the world that NYLON creates and wear clothes that I had never tried before. I wore a red dress which would be kind of hard to wear just normally so it was really mew/refreshing. The outfits the other members wore were also pretty and cute so I would also like to try them as well. I wonder if I suited my outfit.

 

RIMA: It really suited you!

 

RIO: Thanks~! That makes me happy!

 

AYAKA: I tend to always wear the cute type of outfits on stage, but I originally liked the type of fashion where it is girlish but cool at the same time. So this time I was really happy to be given a cool outfit. I could receive advice on different cool poses and learn a lot. I think the photos could show some new cool sides of me.

 

RIKU: You didn't wear it, but the hat was nice too.

 

NINA: The yellow pants really suited you and was lovely!

 

AYAKA: (grinning)

 

--- She's happy (haha). How was it for you MAYUKA?

 

MAYUKA: I usually don't wear clothes that stand out so much so I was a bit worried whether I could pull it off. However, the staff and everyone were really nice in instructing what to do so I could enjoy the photoshoot. It was my first time posing using a sofa so it was really fun.

 

I want to meet myself in secondary school, hand them this NYLON and say "Look!" (haha)

 

--- Did you get used to posing?

 

MAYUKA: ...Just a bit (haha). But I'm still not there yet so I need to practice more!

 

MAYA: Actually, NYLON was the first magazine I bought by myself!

 

Everyone: Ooh~!

 

MAYA: It was when I was in secondary school. The first magazine that made me want to buy was NYLON, so I am really happy that I could appear on the cover. It was my first time challenging wearing new types of clothes, posing, and making all kinds of expressions so it was really fun to shoot. Until now, we tended to have the more cute type of photoshoots, so now everyone can look at the cool NiziU too.

 

--- If you could tell the young MAYA from secondary school, how would you tell her?

 

MAYA: Right in front of her, I would hand her this NYLON and say "Look!" (haha) I bet she wouldn't believe me~ (haha)

 

Everyone: lol

 

MAKO: I often smile/laugh so a I'm often smiling in my photos, so this photoshoot pulling of a cool expression to match the fashion was a bit hard...At the start I didn't know what facial expressions I should be making, but the atmosphere of the shoot was really nice so I started to enjoy myself. The outfit was also the type of cool clothes that I've never worn before so I was happy.

 

MAYA: The red outfit was also cute.

 

MAKO: That good to hear~ I rarely wear red so I was really worried about it. But when MAYA and the staff compliment me like this I start to think ".....Maybe.....I suit red...….?" and could enjoy the photoshoot. (haha) I feel like my range of fashion grew with this photoshoot.

 

RIMA: This time I was given a mature adult like outfit so I was worried if I could pull it off. But once the shoot started, I started to enter the mood and it felt like I was seeing a new world so it was really fun! I was given the chance to have a peek at the monitor and I was really happy to see how lovely they could shoot it as. I want to have another photoshoot!

 

MAKO: I know right. When it's really fun, you want to have another photoshoot.

 

RIMA: Yeah! I want to wear a lovely outfit and have another photoshoot!

 

RIKU: The clothes I was given to wear was completely different to all the outfits I had worn before so it was really new. Posing and making expressions was for sure difficult but actually at the start, trying to act all cool was a bit embarrassing. But when I actually tried, it was really fun...! I could really feel that it was "different to my usual self". I also looked at the monitor and was moved by how pretty they could capture me as. Also, it was a matching of clothes that I had never worn before, so it was a nice learning experience to know what other fashion combinations there are.

 

I could really feel myself enjoying the photoshoot every time the staff would say "(You're) cute"

 

--- When you are performing, you can all pull off grandly show off both the cool and cute types, but does it differ with photoshoots?

 

RIKU: I'm still not used to it so it's still a bit embarrassing. But, I'm slowing becoming more and more used to it so it a learning experience every day. Also, since NYLON is usually a cool vibe, I was worried if I could do so. But in the end it was really fun.

 

RIO: You were really cool.

 

RIKU: That good to hear~

 

NINA: I also struggle with the cool photoshoot. But the outfits were really lovely, and the staff would also compliment me like "You're cute!" "Aah~ You're cool!" so I could really enjoy myself. I can still barely believe that we will be on the cover of such a fashionable magazine!

 

--- The high-waist green pants were really cute.

 

NINA: It was styling I really like.

 

RIKU: The arrangement of the hair pins was also really cute.

 

NINA: It was really cute!

 

I want to keep the feelings of "Let's just enjoy and look forward to it!" and continue to work hard on things we can do.

 

--- It seems it really become a important shooting where you can see new sides of everyone. After going through "Nizi Project" and with debut soon approaching, how it everyone feeling?

 

RIO: Through the auditions everyone really went through various experiences. Since it was a auditions, of course there were any harsh things and lots of happy things. But by getting though the auditions I would meet these great members. Now I'm just really looking forward to debut with these members. Of course I am also anxious as the environment and situation with start to change so I think will be times where I'll be at a standstill. However, I want to keep the feelings of "Let's just enjoy and look forward to it!" and continue to work hard on things we can do.

--- Could you feel that "Nizi Project" was getting a lot of attention in Japan?

 

NINA: I was too focused on the auditions that I couldn't really feel it.

 

RIMA: We were always in Korea so I didn't this it would get so big, and even thought, "Do they (the viewers) really know about us?"...

 

RIO: I would watch the news sometimes when they would talk about us and think "Is this really us?" (haha). Everyone was kind of like that.

 

RIKU: Yeah haha

 

RIMA: However, after looking at the messages from fans I can feel "Ah I really am being supported" and could often gain courage from the fans. But I would sometimes this, "Is this RIMA really me?" (haha). It was a really strange feeling.

 

RIO: I know right! It would be like, "Ah! So it really was about me!" (haha).

 

--- Hahaha! I think without doubt it was all about you all. As a viewer of "Nizi Project" we could really tell the growth of all the members, but how is it from the member's point of view?

 

AYAKA: When I first met everyone I thought everyone was really cute, but everyone has evolved to become even cuter now. I think it's amazing everyone levelled upped there cuteness.

 

RIMA: We have come to like each other more so you come to the see the members as cuter right?

 

AYAKA: Yeah

 

RIO: Since everyone is cute, it feels like we are all learning from each other like "Oh this member is doing this" "This make up is cute". I've started to really research into these things.

 

RIKU: I think RIO is on the side of being researched though. Her sense of fashion is really good, and anyhow she is really fashionable! I'm the type of person who put emphasis on comfortability so I didn't pay much attention to fashion. But RIO is always fashionable so started to think "I should be like this too" and am studying her.

 

RIMA: RIO has a lot of genre of clothes.

 

RIKU: Exactly! I always see and think "Wow, there is that type of clothes combinations as well!".

 

NINA: MAYA is also fashionable!

 

RIKU: Yeah! I agree!

 

NINA: Her sense of fashion is really good, when we are in the same room I think "Ah~ NINA (she calls herself NINA" also want these clothes~"!

 

RIKU: When you admire the clothes you tend to buy similar clothes right? If I think "I want to wear that! It's cute!" I look for similar clothes so we don't clash (haha).

 

NINA: I remember I coincidentally bought the same clothes as RIO and MAYA before.

 

MAYA: Yeah yeah. I remember looking at a cardigan and thinking "This is cute!", and when I bought it and returned home, NINA was wearing it (haha).

 

RIO: Matching clothes. Let's buy matching clothes too Riku!

 

RIKU: Yaaay~!

 

MAYA is the mysterious type and RIO is the energetic type!

 

--- Do RIO and MAYA like the same fashion type?

 

NINA: It's a bit different. MAYA is more mysterious, and RIO is more the energetic type.

 

--- RIO wears the more casual style?

 

RIO: Yup. I also like the more casual style too.

 

My excitement for "What will happen from now on!" is bigger.

 

--- How are feeling now that you are close to debut, MAYUKA?

 

MAYUKA: We already know the 3 songs that have not been announced yet so I really impatient to hurry up and release it for the fans to hear! I want hurry up and to sing "Step and a step" which JYPark sang a bit of on TV earlier. Of course I have worries on how people who react to them but my excitement for "What will happen from now on!" is bigger.

 

--- What kind of song is "Step and a step"?

 

MAYA: This song is a song with a story. I think people who listen to the song will have their own version of that story. I think lots of people will start to look forward with the song and feel saved in some way. There are various ways to interpret
the song so I think it is interesting. We already filmed the MV but there are lots of blanks that I want everyone to have a think about.

 

RIKU: It's made so the people who watch it can think deeply into it.

 

MAYA: I hope everyone can think about the story together.

 

--- How did you yourself interpret it MAYA?

 

Everyone: (looks at Maya)

 

MAYA: Eeeh~! What should I say....! This time it's everyone!

 

Everyone: (haha)

 

--- Let's pay attention to everyone then! (haha). What parts of making MV was hard?

 

AYAKA: I have a cut in the MV where I am running, but it seems I have a weird way of running so I could run beautifully....No matter how many time they tried to teach me I couldn't do it so I was feeling sorry and frustrated. However, amongst that this song was playing so it felt like it was cheering me on and help me.

 

--- So it really became a supporting song

 

AYAKA: Yes. It really felt like it was cheering for me so I could think "Let's try again/work hard again!".

 

--- In the program before debut, your way of running became of hot topic didn't it?

 

AYAKA: Yeah it did~! To actually run in a cool fashion I practised over and over again!

 

--- I'm looking forward to being able to see it. How is are you feeling with the approaching debut, MAKO?

 

MAKO: For now I just want to hurry up and debut and meet with WithU (fanbase name). Till now we didn't have a chance to meet then so I want to repay everyone back for their support.

 

--- How is the new song "step and a step"?

 

MAKO: In the MV, there was a concept to each member, and everyone is their own main character. I'd be happy if everyone could pay attention to that point. Also, since it was my first time acting, I was really confused and lost about that expression I have and how I should act. But since I worked hard to get to this point, with debut right around the corner, I came to think "I just got to keep going” and managed to get through it. I hope everyone (the fans) can pay attention to each member individually.

 

I want to hurry up and repay the WithU who are always giving us love.

 

--- Throughout the auditions, I could feel that everyone had the ability to overcome various missions, but where did that motivation come from?

 

RIMA: My motivation is the members who are always with me. If someone is suffering from something, without saying anything we can all tell. So I try to support and talk to them behind the scenes. Also when I read the messages from WithU, I think "I've got to keep trying my best" and it becomes my motivation. I am also helped by the huge support from my family. I think the love I receive from many people is linked to my motivation. And one of the peoples is WithU so I want to repay them as soon as possible.

 

--- A relationship where you can tell when each other is troubled with something is something lovely and rare. It may be from facing the auditions headfirst together.

 

RIMA: I really think so too! Even though 1 year ago we were all strangers!

 

Everyone: (haha)

 

RIMA: It's really strange isn't it? To think that from being strangers just one year ago to our current relationship where we can tell how each other is feeling is amazing. I think that is one of our strong points though.

 

Since I tried to communicate with everyone more, I've come to like talking itself more and more.

 

--- MAKO as the leader of these members, I can imagine that you have been through many troubles. How do you manage to keep everyone together?

 

MAKO: During the "Nizi Project" times, there were a lot of members who would be feeling down. Whilst listening to their worries, I could give advice since I, myself, had had the same worried before. So I came to think I am really glad that I spent my 3 years training as a trainee in Korea. Also, since I tried to communicate with everyone more, I've come to like talking itself more and more, and am also saved by the members.

 

RIO: MAKO really has her stuff together and is really reliable.

 

RIMA: When I want to cuddle up with her, she does the same back. For example, if I go to hug her, she will hug me back tightly! Even though she has a serious image, she also has this cute side to her.

 

MAKO: Hahaha!
